Village Hotel Manchester Hyde ★★★

Decor in rooms outdated and showed signs of patching. Room cramped with oversized furniture. Bathroom tiny and showing signs of wear and tear and patching - shower head fixed in place - wrong place. Corridors smelt strongly of stale cigarette or vape smoke and air heavy.

Bed good and fairly comfortable. Staff helpful on arrival. We used the restaurant for dinner and it was very expensive for basic food.

The door to the room didn’t lock from the inside. The lamp on the dresser wall didn’t work. The floor got soaked when my partner showered. Walls are very thin and we heard the neighbours (adulting).

It's all a bit tired - we usually stay at the Ashton Village, so probably an unfair comparison due to the ages of the two hotels

It is the second time my family stays at the Village Hyde and they really like it. It is close to my house in Ashton so its convenient.

They hate the breakfast. The eggs were rubbery. So they prefer to have breakfast any other place. And it is overpriced at 12 pounds! For 12 pounds you eat a lot better.

Was my wedding night and the room was at the back of the building next to the coolers and vents and made a Noise all night for 2 nights

Needs updating/decorating. Bedroom very dark. Not enough lighting as only one small window with very little light coming through Needs better tea/coffee facilities in bedroom. Very basic and no glasses Prefer being checked in ( not self check-in) though staff around if needed

Room was a fair size, very comfortable bed and great shower. Food in the bar was excellent and all the staff were so friendly. Good location for our needs

Nothing I didn’t like

A nice welcome from the reception staff. My room had been upgraded to a (suite) a family room with sofa bed settee. It was lovely, clean, warm and comfortable. It was all above my expectations.The pool area was nice and I enjoyed the relaxing friendly atmosphere. I spent some time in the bar where the staff were friendly and efficient.

The rooms were a good size (didn't smell of smoke), the location was great (right next to the train station so easy to get to Manchester piccadilly) leisure area was great, so relaxing and the bar was nice too. Breakfast was good quality and a good variety.

The corridor for the room we stayed in smelt strongly of smoke even though all the doors had no smoking signs on.

The pub located inside the hotel serves good foods.

We got charged for the car park although they told us for free if we gave our car registration which we did. The swimming pool only allows children enter before 5pm and that was no use. The bin in the room was not clear.

Charging for car parking in a non-town centre location. Pure greed and no need to do it. Rooms terrible for price. Had workman walking past my window in the morning attending to extractors! Bathroom window doesn't close. Cold. Have stayed here before but different room. Will not stay again due to parking charges.

Very welcoming we had 1 night stay Meghan the receptionist was More than accommodating in the morning Joy gave us extra coffee and towels nothing was too much trouble for all the staff 10 out of 10 . We had spa treatments and the same for the spa staff Catherine gave a wonderful back massage and Anne the receptionist was equally friendly would definitely recommend both hotel and spa

The hotel is quiet, warm and has everthing you could need, the bar has great TV's for watching sport, the gym is well equiped, the pool, sauna, etc are all very adequate.

The water in the breakfast flasks is not as hot as i would like for my tea.

Great location for my short 2 night business trip, previously stayed here around 8 years ago. Pool and gym facilities and bar. Comfy beds and decent sized room. There is a Starbucks, which I didn’t use as not open during the hours I was at the hotel.

Since my last stay there seems to be a change to way the rooms are booked and what facilities this offers. I assume I booked a superior room which comes with Sky on my last visit. It seems the basic double now is a ‘no frills’ option and on top of your stay you need to pay extra to park (£5), swim and gym (£5). I probably think booking.com should have made this clear on booking, as it showed all the available facilities in the pictures - not confirming any restrictions. The double or standard room certainly was a bit tired. Gone is the restaurant and peaceful breakfast room. The bar has now been converted into a ‘sports bar’ catering really for those who wish to watch football every night on one of the many large noisy screens. Probably not a hotel for single lady travellers. One night was bearable but on the second night I thought I’d have room service. My steak arrived (overcooked) in a paper bag, felt penalised for eating in my room. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough to help, very friendly and kind.

New sports bar - not good like a cafe Room like a cellar window with wall directly outside Thin walls between rooms - heard everything next door. Have stayed before higher level Rooms much better

The staff were friendly. The location was good for our needs.

The hotel entrance smelled damp and dirty. The paintwork on bedroom walls and door frames was filthy. No water glasses in the room. I had to queue at the bar for some as reception said they didn't provide them.

The room was a good size and there was plenty of onsite parking. Beds were comfy and had a good sized bathroom with plenty of hanging space for clothes if staying a while.

I booked the stay as a stop gap as I had to leave at 4am to get to the airport. I had mentioned this when checking in yet my room was in the furthest part of the hotel so no doubt disturbed guests leaving and dragging my case as there was no lift near my room. Also I ordered food via the app, 1hr 45mins later it had still not arrived so chased reception and was told the app wasn't working. My food was then quickly delivered but was definitely not worth the wait and didn't taste very nice at all.
